Once home to legendary American authors like Ernest Hemingway and Tennessee Williams, Key West has been a artistic haven for writers who have been inspired by the beautify scenery, rich culture and peaceful vibe of the island. Over the decades, Key West has also been a place of mystery and intrigue, inspiring the murder and crime novels of Laurence Shames, Stuart Woods, Tom Corcoran, John Hersey, John Leslie, and Robert Stone.
Celebrating the words and images that have emanated from this tropical enclave, the Inaugural Mystery Writers Key West Fest will be a gathering of two-dozen South Florida true crime, suspense and mystery writers. The three-day event will feature informative panels, book signings, and meet and greets with the authors, where you can ask questions, collect autographs and chat with the top novelists of this genre.
Kicked off with a Friday-night opening party, the Mystery Writers Key West Fest will also present a buffet luncheon with best-selling mystery and detective fiction author W.E.B. Griffin, a noir movie night, and a festive bar stroll with your favorite mystery writers so they can tell you how they craft the perfect crime over drinks.
Like Hemingway once said, "There is nothing to writing. All you do, is sit down at a typewriter and bleed." And so the Mystery Writers Key West Fest is a fun way to learn about the art of mystery writing without all the pain. It is also an amazing opportunity for mystery writers with finished manuscripts to pitch their books to publishers and editors.
